GasWatch Frequently Asked Questions

My GasWatch™ propane level indicator or propane gauge is leaking or making a hissing sound. What do I do?

Do a soap bubble test to see if there is a leak and where it is. If there is a leak in the GasWatch™ propane level indicator or propane gauge do not use is. Call us immediately and we will fully refund or replace the product. If the leak is around the connection between the tank and the GasWatch™ propane level indicator or propane gauge then try it on another tank to see if the leak is the tank or GasWatch™. If the leak is around the connection between GasWatch™ you propane level indicator or propane gauge and the regulator then try it on another grill to see if it works. If it is still not working then we would be happy to replace it for you or give you a refund, which ever you prefer.

I've hooked up my GasWatch™ propane level indicator or propane gauge correctly and peformed the leak test, but there is still no gas flow. What should I do?

Make sure when using your GaswatchTM hook it up to both the regulator and tank, turn on the tank and let it register the amount. Then wait about 5 minutes before you turn on the grill to allow the lines to pressurize.
*Note: Please ensure that you connect your GasWatch™ propane level indicator or propane gauge to both the regulator and the propane tank before you turn on your tank.

My GasWatch™ propane level indicator or propane gauge will not allow gas to flow from the tank at all. What should I do?

If you have a brass fitting then GasWatch™ propane level indicator or propane gauge will not work properly. It may or may not connect. Try to tighten the connection first. If that does not work, try to loosen the connection a little bit. If the connection is not being made then gas will not flow. It may only work if you have the black nut, which is called a QCC Type I connection. If it is still not working then we would be happy to replace it for you or give you a refund, which ever you prefer.

What is the difference between the Gaswatch™ 212 and 204?

Model 212 has a 95% flow limitation in case of a major leak whereas Model 204 has a 100% shut off in case of a leak. The 204 also has to be "primed" before use and the 212 does NOT need to be pumped. See the 204 Priming Instructional Video on how to "prime" the gauge.

I have tightened my GasWatch™ propane level indicator or propane gauge, but it moves back and forth. Is this normal?

Yes, once the Gaswatch ™ propane level indicator or propane gauge is attached to the tank and regulator, it should move up and down for better viewing.

My GasWatch™ propane level indicator or propane gauge is connected and the needle goes to green but there is no flow. What does this mean?

If you purchased a GasWatch™ 212 see the above answer. If you purchased a GasWatch™ 204, press the gauge a couple of times to get the flow started. If it is still not working then we would be happy to replace it for you or give you a refund, which ever you prefer.

I have tried tightening the connection and re-installing the gauge, but not enough gas is flowing through. What should I do?

You might need to "reset" the regulator. A safety device was added to all LP regulators that restricts gas flow in the event of a gas leak or overflow. To "reset" the regulator, open the grill lid, turn off all knobs on the control panel and turn off the valve on the LP tank. Disconnect the regulator from the LP tank. Wait 1 minute. Then reconnect the regulator to the LP tank and turn the valve on the LP tank all the way open. Conduct a leak test to make sure there is no leak within the regulator! If there is no leak, reconnect your gas gauge and check to see if the gas is flowing. If this still doesn't work, then we would be happy to replace the gauge for you or issue a refund.
*Note: GasWatch™ propane level indicator or propane gauge are made for the 20lb tanks but can be used on the 30lb and 40lb tanks as long as they have the same connection. It will work on tanks used for output of up to 65,000 BTU.

I can not get my GasWatch™ propane level indicator, propane gauge or grill accessories to fit my grill. Can I return it?

Absolutely. All Gaswatch™ propane level indicators, propane gauges, and grill accessories are unconditionally guaranteed or your money back. Please return it where it was purchased for a full refund.
